Student Assessment
Student Assessment
The Student Assessment Department oversees and facilitates the administration of the statewide assessment program. This program includes the Mississippi Academic Assessment Program (MAAP and MAAP-A) for grades 3–8 Mathematics and English Language Arts; grades 5 and 8 Science; and End-of-Course assessments for Algebra I, Biology I, and English II. The department also administers the State ACT for all juniors, the Mississippi Kindergarten Readiness Assessment (KRA) for Pre-K and Kindergarten students, and the ELPA21 English Language Proficiency Assessment for English Learners.
In addition to these high-stakes assessments, the ACT WorkKeys assessment is administered to eligible vocational students and juniors and seniors who need it for graduation purposes, and the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) is given to selected students.
K–3 universal screeners are administered three times per year to monitor early literacy and numeracy progress. District benchmark assessments are administered throughout the school year to ensure students are on track for success on statewide assessments.
